Routine T1, T2 and Flair sequences of MRI may miss many lesions in brain trauma

A lot of MR sequences are available everywhere and out of these T1W,T2W, Flair,DW,PW, GRE are most popular. MR being superior to CT however may miss acute blood products, so for haemorrhage as a cause for stroke is ruled out by doing CT head. SW sequence can pick up changes not seen in other sequences.

A 26 year old patient suffered from severe head injury in June,

2009 and despite becoming conscious continues to be dysarthric with spasticity all four limbs. See his serial CT and MRI images and see the lesions yourself.
