Neural Masses & Mean Fields

This group focuses on modeling the activity of neural masses, rather than of individual neurons. Of particular interest are "mean field" type of methods: their mathematical analysis, numerical computation, and "real world" application.

Profile Information

Main areas of research:
I am interested in bridging the statistical geometrical regularities of natural scenes with the properties of neural computations as they are observed in low-level sensory processes or through low-level behavior. For instance, has the predictability of the motion of objects in physical space an impact in the activity of neurons that detect and subsequenbtly on eye movements? What mechanisms are used to learn statistical regularities? What happens if these adaptive mechanisms are dysfunctional?

First of all, a very happy new year to you!

I am very well, thank you - working as RA at UU (http://isrc.ulster.ac.uk/Staff/BBhattacharya)

I see you have joined the nerual mass and mean fields group - I will join now as well - didn't notice this earlier - I work exactly in this area - and many a times feel that it would be nice if I could discuss certain issues with people working on similar areas.

Let's keep in touch in this space. Are you going to the CNS this year at Stockholm?
