Tamrakar Karuna replied to Vasilios Katsaridis's discussion Stent assisted coiling of recently ruptured aneurysms in the group Neurointerventional
"Why do think stenting is necessary in addition to coil embolization particularly in narrow neck aneurysms? As Professor Shakir HUSAIN has mentioned, we too do practice of double catheter technique to wave compact basket or double basket technique if…"

Vasilios Katsaridis commented on Vasileios Panagiotopoulos's group Vascular Neurosurgery
"Hi Vasilis. I dont generally use the jailed cath technique. I am concerned that in small aneurysms, placing the stent over the cath might cause aneurysm perforation. I prefer stenting and then catheterizing. Sometimes it is difficult but only once…"

Vasilios Katsaridis replied to Vasilios Katsaridis's discussion Stent assisted coiling of recently ruptured aneurysms in the group Neurointerventional
"I dont find recent SAH a contraindication to using a stent when one is actually needed. I dont load with ASA+Clopidogrel before placng a stent. I give 5,000 IU heparin 10 minutes before placing the stent and an additional 2,500 IU at 45 minutes if…"

Stent assisted coiling of recently ruptured aneurysms

I use stents regularly (when necessary) in the embolization of acutely ruptured aneurysms, applying a special anticoagulation - antiplatelet protocol.Would you like to comment on your views and your practice?See More

Hi Vasilis and welcome to the group. Your idea for loading embo-videos in youtube is excellent! I liked very much the perfect result of PICA embo (www.youtube.com/watch?v=J76Tr-3H5uI). I would like to ask if you would prefer jailed technique (catheterization firstly and then stenting and afterwards coiling). Did you use your standard protocoll with IV Heparin for ruptured aneurysms ?
